Creating UI for Web Audio — Stephen speaks at SwissJS

On a hot, humid day in July, Stephen got up to address 300-odd people at SwissJS on the subject of the relatively new Web Audio API, and how to start making musical controls for it.

This is a presentation of some experimental work I have been doing in an effort to make an online sound design and performance tool, sound.io. It being my first ever talk, it was a little daunting, but the team at SwissJS were very reassuring and once I got into the swing of it I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I began with an improvisation I half made up on the train on the way there, enabled only by some panicked late night bug-fixing the night before, and delivered as a surprise while the audience was coming back in after a break. Skip to 3:40 to go straight to the talk.

Many thanks to everyone involved. There were some good speakers on the day. I particularly enjoyed Philip Hofstetter's (@pilif) funny talk on internationalisation, This talk lasts 三十分钟.

All the videos from the day are posted at www.swissjs.com/2015/.
